Treats can be a very important part of bonding with a chinchilla. It help chinchillas learn to trust their owners and associate humans with good things. Almonds provide beneficial essential fatty acids, however it MUST be restricted. Chinchillas do not metabolise fat well, and as all nuts are quite high in fat in general, too much treats can cause a fatty liver!!
Almonds are one of the better nuts for a chinchilla's diet since they are a little lower in fat and harder to help wear down teeth. Remember, only feed RAW nuts, and limit it to one nut/day on rare occasions, for full grown chinchillas only!
Pack contains: 31 Whole Raw Almonds - 1 month supply
Feeding Directions: Limit to 1 nut a day
Included on the packet is a handy little feeding table (like the one below) with days of the month on it so you can mark a "X" on the days you've already fed, that way you or other members of the household will know whether the treats have been given that day or not!
Example: If today is 17th of October, and you've fed your chin 1 almond, start and mark X on box 17, then the next day 18 and so on. When you've finished with the month i.e. it is now 1st of November, just go back and mark X on box 1, and the treat bag should finish EXACTLY the day you mark your last X. If the month is only 30days or less - ie February, April, June etc... then just cross out the extra numbersm, note that you will end up with an extra almond for that month in which you can treat yourself with!! Yes, it is 100% SAFE for humans!!!
